I was excited to get a referral for someone new to town that needed new Headshots, and quick. Jessie Drake. She and I planned our shoot Downtown Portland, Oregon where great light and perfect, nondescript scenery is abound. We didn’t account for huge wind gusts that started, oh about 5 minutes before we arrived. Lucky for us, we planned to meet up at a Starbucks beforehand to chat and head out to pick our perfect spot. Turns out, Jessie and I were already there. With the wild winds outside and some delicious olive green subway tile across from a wall of windows inside our meeting spot, we asked the manager if he would mind if we ‘borrowed’ their wall for a few minutes. Here are a few of the shots we got of Jessie. Between her rich, coffee toned shirt and that lovely green subway tile, her eyes just POP! Hope you like them, and thanks again Jessie for being so great and fun to work with!

Next, find your photos, click to open them larger. At the top you will see the ACTIONS drop down menu, click that open and select VIEW ALL SIZES. You can then click the “Download the Original size of this photo”. It will download to your computer, then please go in and rename and save it! It will give it a long, meaningless file name…this way you can find it again in your computer folder. They will be up for 30 days, so please download what you need within that time. You are welcome to print the photos, use them online, whatever. They are sized to print as a 5×7, but you can go larger, just adjust the crop.

Bride’s Makeup Fix | It’s all about the eyes

I was honored to photograph Natasha & Trevor’s wedding in Olympia, WA a few weeks ago (more of their wedding to come). As the day went on, Natasha’s eyeshadow began to crease and fade. In this particular shot, I could also see where her false eyelashes were attached. I did a some retouching to make it look more in line with how she looked at the beginning of the day (along with other basic image corrections). I’ve also added a second black and white (what I refer to as my ‘old hollywood black and white’) option that I love equally as well. Here they are…as shot, retouched and b/w.

Designer’s Headshots

Last January, I was invited to offer Designer’s Headshots for the Portland, Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Home Stagers and Redesigners “Business Makeover Event”, along with makeup artist Terri Lodge of Blush Premier Makeup and it seemed to be quite a hit! Afterward, one of the participants, Ruth Chancellor of Chancellor Designs asked me to do a “Headshot Party” at her home with some friends who were in need of a great headshot for their own businesses. This process allowed small business owners and associates an affordable ‘group rate’, and an incentive (friends, food, wine, fun) to get them done…sort of a procrastination-squasher. Ruth also hired me to photograph the images for her website, go take a peek: Chancellor Designs

Mary Thornton-Brown | Headshots

The subtitle of this post is “Shemar Moore is Hot.”

Last month, I went down to LA to update Mary’s Headshots, as she got this great new haircut…then it within a week or so of new headshots in hand, Mary got an audition on Criminal Minds! I like to think it was the new headshot, but it was more likely the new hairstyle. She’d been wanting to land a role on that show for years, and once she got in the door, her talent won them over. They filmed it last week and it airs May 11th! Mary sent me a snapshot of her and Shemar (she knows I have a ‘little’ crush on him) and I’ve included it here, just so I can look at it again.

We even had the opportunity to shoot one day at former President Ronald Regan’s house (back in his days as an actor)!

Diana Sell Photography is seeking JUNIORS to REPRESENT!

Diana Sell Photography offers a limited number of Senior Model marketing representatives per year. It’s pretty low key, and you are just asked to share some information about your Senior Portrait experience with your Senior Class. You earn discounts for other Seniors you refer to Diana Sell and get your Senior Session for FREE! Take a look at what our models will receive, and what’s required on your end…if you’re interested, comment in the box below with your info and Diana will send over an application.

Models will be selected by April 24th, 2011 (Diana’s birthday ) and will be photographed by May 15th, 2011.

Senior Model responsibilities:

Share your experience with Diana Sell Photography with your friends and classmates via your marketing cards, online slideshow, mini album and Facebook
Keep Diana Sell up to date monthly with your progress and need for additional marketing materials
Host a group of friends for a Facebook Profile Party
Exclusively promote and be photographed by Diana Sell during the duration of your model contract (thru Graduation 2012)

COST: FREE!

Students are chosen as Senior Models based on involvement in school activities, outgoing personality, level of excitement and availability. Only two students per school will be selected.

Diana Sell Senior Models are not required to purchase anything, there is no cost to be involved. Senior Packages are available for purchase and will be discounted based on the number of referrals you bring in.

Beautiful Mama

Jennifer wasn’t sure she wanted to do Maternity Portraits, and ended up putting it off until she was almost due…in fact, she’s going in to be induced today! Even though it was a chilly day here in Oregon, Jennifer was up for doing almost anything. We went out into the field here at my home/farm studio and created some beautiful portraits taking full advantage of the light wind we got every so often. I can’t wait to meet and photograph her new little one…stay tuned!

Little Miss Meizi

It was a very chilly morning and Little Miss Meizi was a ROCKSTAR! This was her first Puddltown Talent modeling portfolio shoot and she was amazing! The first look was shot inside Green Frog Toys (great light, no wind and a place to warm up our tootsies!) and they were so great to give us a few minutes…ok, so we also did a little shopping

The last look was shot inside CHAP Children’s Healing Arts Center, where the only rules are that you can’t paint on the windows or the floor. Who knew!? That explains all the Nike and Adidas shoes that are painted and hanging all around the space. Both companies, along with many others donate to support this very worthwhile cause. In fact, they sell Nike, Columbia Sportswear and Adidas Samples…we picked up 2 great pair of Nike shoes for our 7 year old. You can also buy t-shirts with child created art, check out their website!
